Welcome to Zenkids Preschool

At Zenkids, we are dedicated to fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children to embark on their educational journey. Our comprehensive preschool program is carefully designed to cater to the developmental needs of children from ages 2 to 6.

Our Preschool program is segmented into

• Nursery - Ages 2 to 3
• Pre-KG - Ages 3 to 4
• LKG - Ages 4 to 5
• UKG - Ages 5 to 6

Each stage is crafted to support the holistic growth of every child, focusing on cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.

As children progress from Nursery to UKG at ZenKids, we ensure that each stage of learning builds upon the previous one, creating a seamless transition from foundational skills to advanced concepts. Our holistic approach integrates STEM education with language development, study of nature, storytelling, fostering well-rounded, confident, and inquisitive learners ready to face the challenges of the future.

Nursery (Ages 2-3)

Foundation Stage: Building Curiosity and Social Skills

At the Nursery level, we emphasize creating a secure and engaging environment where children can begin to explore the world around them. Our program includes:

• STEM:
  • Grace and Courtesy: Teaching children how to interact respectfully with their environment and peers, focusing on empathy, patience, and social skills.
  • Elementary Activities: Developing fine motor skills and concentration through tasks like pouring, spooning, folding clothes, polishing, simple fastening frames, painting, cutting,gluing,and modeling.
  • Practical Life Activities: Emphasizing self-care and environmental care through activities like washing, brushing, and simple food preparation like cutting vegetables, fruits and making salads.
• Language:
  • Oral Language Skills:Enhanced through naming objects, conversations, sound games, news period, question game, and group discussions.
  • Experiential Learning: Field trips to farms, temple, hospital, supermarket, and local transport stations to observe living and non-living things.
  • Multilingual Support: English, Tamil, and Hindi to broaden communication skills and cultural awareness.
  • Storytelling and Poems: Introduction to simple stories and poems related to nature to enhance language skills and stimulate curiosity.
• Study of nature:
  • Exploration of basic concepts of nature, such as living and non-living things, through interactive nature tables
  • Field trips to nearby farms, parks, supermarkets, and temples.

By the end of the Nursery program, children will have developed muscle strength, focus, independence, respect for others, foundational skills in language and practical life, and living and nonliving things around us.

Pre-KG (Ages 3-4)

Exploration Stage: Enhancing Motor Skills and Early Literacy

In Pre-KG, we build on the foundation established in Nursery, focusing on more structured learning experiences:

• STEM:
  • Practical Life Activities: Enhancing environmental care and responsibility with tasks like sweeping, mopping, care of plants, care of animals, arranging flowers, setting the dining table, and food preparation.
  • Sensorial Activities: Using Montessori materials to refine touch, sight, hearing, taste, and smell, which are crucial for understanding mathematics and language.
• Language:
  • Pre-writing Skills:Tracing sandpaper letters, using movable alphabets, Using metal insets for drawing lines to prepare for writing, and practicing writing on lined and plain paper.
  • Phonetic Awareness: Activities that map sounds to letters, enhancing early reading and writing skills.
  • Storytelling and Poems: Storytelling and poem recitation to reinforce language development and foster appreciation for the natural world.
• Study of nature:
  • Growth of plants, animals,and human, parts of plants, animals, and human, various minerals available in nature through enhanced nature tables and guided nature walks.
  • Field trips to nearby farms, parks, zoos, aquariums, and museums.

By the end of Pre-KG, children will have refined their senses, developed independence, and gained essential pre-writing skills, setting the stage for advanced literacy and mathematical learning.

LKG (Ages 4-5)

Foundation Stage: Building Academic Readiness and Critical Thinking

In LKG, we emphasize building a strong foundation in academic readiness and critical thinking skills:

• STEM:
  • Sensorial Learning: Developing an understanding of shapes and solids using materials like geometric solids, constructive triangles, and binomial cubes.
  • Mathematics: Introducing number systems, decimal systems, and operations through engaging, hands-on activities.
• Language:
  • Reading Foundations: Single letter sound reading, object boxes, action words, and puzzle words.
  • Phonetic Reading: Introduction to two-letter and single sound reading with supplementary materials.
  • Parts of Speech: Functional usage of articles, adjectives, prepositions, conjunctions, verbs, and adverbs.
  • Storytelling and Poems: Storytelling and poem recitation to deepen understanding and appreciation of the interconnectedness of the universe.
• Study of nature:
  • Understanding of physical geography, including landforms, weather patterns, and celestial bodies, through interactive nature study tables, galaxy zone, and outdoor observations.
  • Raw materials from plants, animals, and minerals, benefits and finished products from raw materials.
  • Field trips to planetariums, and factories.

By the end of LKG, children will understand solids and shapes, grasp basic mathematical concepts, and develop foundational reading skills, physical geography, and the value of nature, preparing them for more complex academic challenges.

UKG (Ages 5-6)

Mastery Stage: Preparing for Formal Education and Lifelong Learning

In UKG, our goal is to prepare children for formal education and instill a love for lifelong learning:

• STEM:
  • Advanced Mathematics: Covering teens and tens, linear and skip counting, and essential combinations for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Passage to Abstraction: Transitioning to abstract concepts using small bead frames and materials for hierarchies.
  • Science Experiments: Exploring light, air, water, magnetism, and electricity through hands-on experiments to deepen scientific understanding.
• Language:
  • Writing Skills: Passage writing and creative writing to express thoughts and stories.
  • Reading Proficiency: Reading definitions, naming definitions, and puzzle strips to enhance comprehension and vocabulary.
  • Reading Analysis: Identifying sentence components and creating reading analysis charts to understand sentence structure.
  • Storytelling and Poems: Storytelling and poem recitation to inspire curiosity, empathy, moral, and a sense of responsibility towards the natural world
• Study of nature:
  • Comprehensive exploration of the political geography, includes continents, countries, states, flags, and stamps of the countries.
  • Culmination of nature study experiences with in-depth exploration of ecological systems, biodiversity, and food chain.
  • Field trips to transport stations, and stations of the executive sector, forest, beach, animals and birds sanctuary.

By the end of UKG, children will have mastered basic arithmetic, developed scientific inquiry skills, and achieved proficiency in reading and writing, equipping them with the confidence and curiosity to excel in future academic endeavors.
